Highlands Primary School celebrated Arbor Day on Friday September 6 with song, dance and poetry and planted some trees and plants in their own school garden. One of the winners at the Next Generation Musical Showcase that took place at the Liberty Promenade mall, Lantana Primary, presented their winning skit and song for the pupils.
Grade 1 pupils presented a poem called My Tree. From left are, Malachi Benjamin, Gugulethu Tshabalala, Mila Fikizolo, Zuraida Goliath, Caitlyn Arendse and Saige Gabriel.
Grade 2s sang, You are my sunshine.
Grade 4s did a dance at their Arbor Day celebration.
The winners of the colouring competition from left are Chulomanca Bam, Uthmaan Levy, Masroor Peters, Entle Mkumbuzi, Jaylin Murtz, Kgosi Dubula, Christian Borricks and Hlobisile Ndzala who is not pictured. They had to to colour in a picture for arbor day.
Chee Mee, an environmental volunteer who organised the event for the children and taught them about Arbor Day.
