■ The grandparents and guardians of the pupils of Mitchell’s Plain School of Skills in Rocklands were treated at an appreciation ceremony on Thursday April 26. The school thought it fit to give back to the ones who inspire and keep young people off the street regardless of what society says about them. Chefs from Open Door restaurant in Constantia , Myoga restaurant in Claremont, Silo Hotel at the V&A Waterfront, Private Chef in Belhar with their company EatatainU were at the event to treat the grandparents and guardians to some fine dining. Desiree’ Solomons, 56, from Eastridge, and Chanaaz Gaffoor, 63, from Hanover Park both enjoyed the appreciation day and being exposed to the great food that they savoured. They also expressed appreciation that their children could be nurtured and inspired by the top chefs. Former principal Graham Cupido thanked the grandparents and guardians for all their hard work and investing in their children to achieve success.
