Agency hosts capacity building workshops

Members of Mitchells Plain community organisations.

After years of lobbying, the National Development Agency (NDA) has finally answered a call from the Mitchell’s Plain’s Multi-Sectoral Action Team (MSAT) to come build capacity in the area.

Since last year the NDA has been hosting workshops on registering a non-profit organisation, governance, management training and the most recent course was conflict management.

The four-day programme was hosted at Merrydale Primary School, in Lentegeur, from Monday March 2 to Thursday March 5.

MSAT co-ordinator Rosaline Swartz who previously called for assistance and is now at Children’s World Day Care Centre, said something had to be done to help organisations sustain themselves.

“The way forward is to look for funding for Mitchell’s Plain,” she said.

She apologised to organisations, who did not get the invitation to attend and thanked principal Trevor Dilgee, for making the school’s premises available.

She also thanked NDA development officers Maria Jonker, Vuyo Madikane and Shaun Meyer.
