Five people were killed in as many days in a series of shootings in Beacon Valley and Tafelsig last week.
In Anita Crescent in Morgenster, Beacon Valley on Sunday night June 20, four people were shot – two of them dead.
Police were alerted to the incident at 8.45pm and when they arrived they found a man, 20, lying on the ground. He had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to his head and neck. Another man, also 20, who was found lying at the front door of a house, had been shot in the head and died.
Those injured included a man, 30, who had been shot in his chest and right leg; and a girl, 17, who had been shot in the chest and stomach.
Police have registered two cases of murder and two cases of attempted murder. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the investigating officer Detective Constable Morgan De Bruin of Mitchell’s Plain Serious and Violent Crimes Unit.
The previous morning, Saturday June 19, at 11am a 45-year-old man had been shot dead on the corner of Francis and Moira streets in Tafelsig. He had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to his forehead.
Police are investigating a case of murder and anyone with information is asked to contact investigating officer Detective Constable Morgan De Bruin.
In another incident on the same day Saturday June 19 at 4.05pm a man, 29, was shot dead in Tafelsig. He was taken to hospital by private vehicle but was declared dead on arrival.
He had been shot in the chest.
Police retrieved six cartridges, one projectile and a live round at the scene. The deceased had allegedly been approached at his gate by two unknown men who took out firearms and started shooting at him.
Police are investigating a case of murder and anyone with information is asked to contact the investigating officer Detective Constable Jesse Phillips of Mitchell’s Plain Serious and Violent Crimes Unit.
In another shooting, at 3.25pm on Tuesday June 15, a man, 39, died after being shot in the head, shoulder and chest in Morgenster Road, Beacon Valley. The man had allegedly been approached by two men who had shot at him.
Police recovered four cartridges and three projectiles on the scene and are investigating a case of murder and another of attempted murder. While police believe the shooting to be gang-related, the deceased is not a gang member.
