A talented and multi-faceted Eastridge artist has big plans in furthering his music career.
Shiraaj Andrews, 27, also known by his stage name BrunoRaaj, from Eastridge, is a singer-songwriter musician, model and jewellery designer.
During an interview with the Plainsman on Wednesday March 7, he said his music video How Bout Now?, alongside Ally B is being considered for play-listing on Trace.
Views of the video on YouTube online are in the thousands.
This local muso has recorded two new singles, both collaborations, one with two hip hop artists from Cape Town – Blunt Magis and Leigh Jay – the other with Superstar Ace from Johannesburg.
Superstar Ace is a mainstream artist who worked with the likes of Davido, DJ Maphorisa and Anatii.
“This could be my big break into mainstream,” Shiraaj said.
His singles will be on his social media profiles soon. He can be followed on Facebook at Shiraaj Bruno Raaj Andrews, on Twitter @brunoraaj and on Instagram @brunoraaj.
Shiraaj started his singing career with boy band Xpose, managed by Waseef Piekaan, in 2009, a year after he matriculated from Spine Road High School, which disbanded in 2014.
He studied jewellery design for four years at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) but in his final year, fell into a bit of financial difficulty, and heeded the call to the music industry.
“I felt like I had to do something else. I was destined for something more. I had more to offer,” he said.
Shiraaj models to cover the costs of studio time and enlists the support and services of top sound engineers and producers to have his work perfected.
Shiraaj wrote and composed a solo single but soon realised a female vocal would complement it better.
Originally from Elsies River, Shiraaj hooked up with SA Idols season 13 winner, Paxton Fielies, from Bishop Lavis, on social media to possibly do a collaboration.
He said he has his sights set on collaborating with Paxton in 2019.
“Hopefully these will receive a lot of airplay once play listed on the radio stations. I’m grateful for all the love and support. Keep it coming,” Shiraaj said.
