New York’s all-male comedy ballet company Les Ballets Eloelle will present Men In Tutus at the Artscape Opera House from Thursday April 18 to Sunday April 21. The parody show features dancers from America, Spain, Argentina, Mexico, the Philippines, Australia, Colombia, the Isle of Wight and Japan. Characters in Men In Tutus include Nina Minimaximova, who reigned supreme on the stages of the world’s greatest theatres until her forced retirement; Tamara Chilirojo, who radiates a sense of naiveté with her “Who, me?” countenance; and Imelda Hardtoes, the former first lady of Philippine dance who left her homeland under dubious circumstances, but was granted artistic asylum by Les Ballets Eloelle. She brings with her a wealth of experience and 4 532 pairs of designer pointe shoes. The show is on Thursdays, at 8pm, Saturdays at 3pm and 8pm; and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets cost from R190. Book through Computicket.
