Abdullah Ibrahim will perform two solo piano concerts titled Water from an Ancient Well on Heritage Day, Monday September 24, at The Fugard Theatre, at 3pm and 8pm.
The 3pm matinee performance is being presented in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy as part of the Japanese Consulate Centenary and the 8pm performance is presented by The Fugard Theatre.
Mr Ibrahim was recently announced as one of the 2019 Jazz Masters being honoured by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in the USA. Since 1982, the NEA has recognised artists who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of jazz.
Mr Ibrahim’s work will be celebrated in a ceremony at the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC in April next year. Tickets cost from R160 to R250 and can be booked through the Fugard Theatre box office on 021 461 4554 or through www.thefugard.com
